Transformation of a disjointed suite into a seamless, student-focused testing center
Limited to its current footprint, the Disability Access Services Testing Center at Northeastern University was busting at the seams in its quest to meet the many needs of the students it serves. There was no option to move to a bigger or more prominent location, so EAD was tasked with maximizing the number of rooms and students that could be served while also creating a more easily identified/branded suite within the existing available footprint.
- Maximized the number of individual rooms and located the large group testing room in a way that capitalized on the available floor area.
- Activated all available waiting area zones with varied seating arrangements and enhanced sightlines for supervisory staff.
- Blended a cohesive palette of muted colors, fabrics, patterns, and furniture to create an inviting and calming design geared toward often anxious test-takers.
- Stretched the project budget to include renovating previously out-of-scope staff areas.
