When R+D firm Hefring Engineering sought to leave its temporary office space in Boston and establish a headquarters that fit its ocean-centric mission, a newly-built marine research building in Gloucester fit the bill. The main focal point of the high-bay research space allows for the company’s flagship product – an ocean research glider – to be on display in a way that directly connects it to the harbor views outside their front door.
The blank canvas of the new space allowed the Ebbrell team to get creative and draw the ocean-based aspects of this research and development firm into the interior design, such as strategically locating eye-catching wall murals evocative of the sea to help identify different spatial zones. In addition, custom design for a branded entry light fixture that mirrors the Hefring logo creates a “wow” factor for visitors upon entry.
